You could re-encode to MPEG2 using the reencoding server, but you need more disk space... I mostly playback IVTV recorded content, with the occaisonal .avi. Beats me, but you could configure VLC to encode to MPEG2 and tweak the parameters like dropping frames or maybe MPEG1... Don't know what would work best for you... High WAF here, coupled with the Server running Freevo as a headless recording file server/soho server. She loves the fact that her soaps are recorded automagically when they're on, and that she can watch them in the bedroom or the family room Freevo HTPC.
