I've got an under-performing Kingston 4G that boots in about 70 seconds. I'm working on a new Debian Lenny build in a VM that I'll transfer to a 2G OCZ dual-channel that I figure will shave off about 30 seconds from the boot time. Given that flash drives are so cheap, i figure it's easier to go that route and swap drives when I do upgrades. > In my case, in /etc/vfstab I mount /dev/sda1 (root volume) with the noatime > option to speed things up and minimize writes to the volume.
