Hi,
I've been looking at the wide range of standalone media players now on
display in the shops
Their key benefits: compact, low power/fanless, inexpensive, fully
integrated UI with remote control
As far as the architecture of home multi-media is concerned, an emerging
scenario involves
- content (e.g. movies) stored on a home NAS or a device such as the HP
N36L Microserver (which has 4 drive bays and gigabit),
- the decoding/playback functions performed by these low profile media
player boxes attached to each TV
Does Freevo aim to address this use-case at the moment, e.g. acting as a
back-end DVR and serving content to dedicated media players, and is
anyone doing any work in this area? Are any of the media players
`Freevo friendly', e.g. able to use Freevo as a DVR?
Regards,
Daniel
