Hi,

today I downloaded and compiled fwrt for my WL-500gP. I did not try to mess with the configuration, I only carefully <M>'ed a few more application-like packages than originally set (asterisk etc.)

After I did, I experienced a few problems:

1. ls /
makes the whole session hang, after a few trials I learned that I can't even "kill -9" it, the only remedy is to reset the box.

2. I scp'ed all asterisk* files to /tmp (this was another pitiful story with WinSCP/PuTTY - dropbear started to disconnect sessions and complained about Command 'groups' failed with return code 127 and error mesage -ash: groups: not found ...but this is not fatal). Then I su'ed, did ipkg install asterisk_1.2.1-1_mipsel.ipk and all that happened was

ipkg: Cannot create directory `/usr/lib/ipkg/lists': Invalid argument

...again, I couldn't Ctrl-Z it, Ctrl-C it, kill -9 it.

* am I doing something basically wrong?

* could it be I can get any better results with OpenWRT.org, DD-wrt.com etc.? No flamewars please, I just need the fastest way to accomplish my volunteer task 9that evolved into a nightmare) and I am just after the most reliable nonstop solution. No Linux/WRT/MIPS expert, I was just desperately trying to follow some word of mouth (that pointed to ASUS and you guys).
In other words: be nice, please, I am already stressed enough.

Thank you in advance,

D.

PS: No allusions to me and the MTV cartoon character, please.
