nearly unpossible with a small team.

That's simple to explain. Most developers of packages just stop
after it compiles fine. So if you never use the software on an
embedded system, you never see what's wrong.
We inherit most of the packages in FreeWRT from the project
OpenWrt. We never used igmpproxy, I think it was just ported for
somebody and this individual may be never give feedback. But there
are more than one reason why we sometimes have untested packages.
