MARS POLAR LANDER BREAKS UP UPON HITTING THE MARTIAN DO NOT VISIT BARRIER! NASA has determined that the Mars Polar Lander broke up upon entry Friday when it hit what has been described as a DNV (Do Not Visit) barrier erected by the Martians. It appears that the Martians had not opted in to visits by mechanical representatives from earth. NASA is currently investigating the situation and has asked the DMA (Direct marketing Association) to explain its members involvement with the erection of the barrier. NASA has determined that the Martians erected the DNV after members of the DMA had "carpet bombed" the Martian planet with unsolicited deep space commercial radio signals on all possible wavelengths. The DMA members were offering earth vacation packages, earth herbal packages, ice thawing machines and other earthly goods they felt would be of interest to the Martian consumer. The DMA has failed to comment on the issue other than to say that all of their members are in full compliance with Earth and Martian laws and that they respect the privacy of our Martian neighbors. Closer investigation by NASA has determined that signals received from the red planet over the last two years were repeated "Remove us from your list" requests that the DMA members had ignored leaving the Martians no other choice but to erect the DNV barrier. Martian signals and vehicles can pass through the DNV. Signals and vehicles from earth are blocked from reaching the Martian planet. "Its appalling" said one NASA administrator. "The marketers invaded the space of our Martian neighbors privacy for monetary gain. We may never be able to repair this rift in relationships between our planets that now exists. We should launch everyone of those marketers on a one way trip to the past to join the primordial slime that they are!"
