Yes, exactly. HyperDoc allows "easy" navigation in the rather complex lattice of categories, domains and functions of the FriCAS library. I find this a critically important feature of FriCAS. Without it I would feel like I was lost, even though of course it is always possible to "read the source code" and search through (often somewhat dubious) documentation. > Admittedly, that is a very useful feature, but that > should/could rather be available from the FriCAS > command line. I disagree strongly. Navigating the type hierarchy is something that is ideal for a web browser-like interface. That is what HyperDoc is/was all about. The word "hyper" is exactly from this early (1970's ?) vision of what web browsers would later become. > I actually don't like to start an X programm > (HyperDoc) only to find out about which domain > implements some function. > That is exactly the reason why I use HyperDoc in almost every FriCAS session. > If this feature is provided in another way, then we could > slowly let HyperDoc rest in peace. > The user interface level of HyperDoc could be entirely replaced by a conventional browser but the navigation of the internal FriCAS dynamic type database still requires some sort of backend.
