it just a tool that can generate an iso image from fpm and fdb files and

with cds:

you download them, give it to a friend, and he/she can use it even if
there is no internet available on the machine.

without the cds:

download cd1-2, give it to the friend, he/she installs it, runs pacman
-Sp, gives you the list, you download it, burn it, give it to him/her,
and he/she installs it.

it just makes live easier.

the question is - i think - if the problem about it takes disk space /
bandwidth is bigger than the benefit of avoiding the second scenario.
