Devil505,

I was excited when I noticed yesterday that you had packaged the
Equinox engine and themes. I also understand why you have chosen the
GTK+2 theme and icons which are to be the default for Haven. I really
admire the work of the GTK+2 theme's artist. I often find out that the
themes I most like on deviantart.com were created by him/her.

Personally I don't like them as much as my current, personal
preferences but they're just that - *personal* preferences. As you've
explained before, the default GTK+2 theme needs to be be based on one
or more of the GTK+2 theme engines distributed by default with GNOME.

Has there been much activity from the artwork team? I've seen messages
that they have work in progress, but I haven't seen any previews. I
have sent email messages directly to WebEagle, but haven't received
any replies. For 1.1 (IIRC) and 1.2 we had a few new people submit
artwork, all of which I still admire, and it would be a pity not to
see them involved in 1.3. I only recently installed the package
containing all known Frugalware wallpapers/backgrounds and they're
great, with an amazing variety of styles. IIRC Tomas did some very
interesting work, which I would call "modern", perhaps only because I
tend to be traditional in my artwork tastes.

I have some further thoughts on the other artwork items for GNOME, but
I don't have time to describe them now.

May you always be Frugal,

Russell Dickenson (AKA phayz)
