Hey everyone, So the meeting plans for this week have changed. Dr. Beck e-mailed to let me know that he has had some family obligations come up Thursday and will no longer be able to attend our meeting. He still plans to come and present at a later date but just cannot make it this week.
We will still be having a meeting this week with a presenter. In the spirit of career week, I have spoken with a senior computer science major who has agreed to come and present about his experience in his internship, give some advice on how to get an internship, and how to interview for internships and full time positions. There will still be free snacks and some awesome opportunities to come and learn about how computer science is applied in a business setting. Also, Dr. Bindner e-mailed me this link earlier: http://www.kirksvillejavausersgroup.com/index.html . This is also a great opportunity to get involved in some professional development. Baring any unforeseen circumstance, I will be attending this meeting and we can discuss opportunities from the meeting on Thursday after our presenter as well. Lastly, its career week on campus and Cerner is here recruiting for software engineer positions. This is a great opportunity for an internship since they do no require much pre-experience and higher interns based on GPA (around 3.0). They will also be having a table in the VH upstairs area tomorrow (Tuesday) from 11am-3pm answer questions, give away shirts, and free pizza. This is an informal event and a great opportunity to get more information about the company or even information for future internship opportunities. If you have any questions about any of the events of this week the career center website has all the info for this week's events. Also I can provide some help in interviewing/reviewing resumes and that kind of stuff since I went through a lot of this prep work last semester. Good luck to you all with this week, and see you all Wednesday and Thursday!
