Reboot rather than suspend for such a short time? As well as having my boot and shutdown as tightly optimised as possible, to get the machine to a login prompt fast. I'm currently running acpid with: ==> /etc/acpi/events/bigredswitch <== # odd-numbered power button events are presses, so sleep event=button/power.*[13579bcf]$ action=/sbin/shutdown -h now ==> /etc/acpi/events/lid <== # odd-numbered lid button events are presses, so sleep event=button/lid.*[13579bcf]$ action=/bin/hibernate ==> /etc/acpi/events/sleep <== event=button/sleep action=/Users/mjr/bin/wificycle I'd be interested to hear of other FS power-save/convenience tips.
