Yes, but we ran into a 60KB limit for client variable storage.  That is, 
each client is limited to a total of 60KB for all of their client variables,
despite the fact that your database probably uses a CLOB or TEXT datatype
that can hold 4GB or so.  The 60KB limit appears to be hardcoded into CFAS.
When storage exceeds this limit, data is truncated and lost.

This one I have heard before and have a solution for (courtesy of Hal I
believe for today's environment of make sure credit is given).   If you are
using structures, etc. all you have to do is use WDDX to turn it into a
single string and then store that string as a client var.   Viola - you now
have complex client variables.
