My scheduled_tasks directory contains basically the following:

<cfif IsDefined('attributes.fuseaction')
  AND
ListFind(attributes.fuseaction,"rebuildverity,hammertheDB,dosomethingdangero
us")>
   <cfinclude template="admin/index.cfm">
<cfelse>
   <cf_addtomeanies>
</cfif>

Thus I neatly(?) side step the security in the admin app.
Naturally I would never call the directory anything as obvious as
"scheduled_tasks".
Ever again.

FWIW, I was working on a newer one today and the challenge/response stuff
worked, so might try that next time.

Ps I agree with Nando when he says it's a bit of a donkey, but for different
reasons - in my experience the scheduler can 'go bad', and once this happens
it just doesn't work, and you're stuffed...
