I maybe crazy but this is the way I program a web site and it seem to work
out much better. To me I see the main site as one application, the admin as
another separate application (Different goal, Different requirements and
could have a different look "more plain") and if there is a member section
or some cases a shopping cart then another application. Now I commonly SES
the main site but I don't in the admin or member sections. Since someone
would have to login to the application then why SES that application. Hence
that adds to the reasoning.

So I would have three different applications. Now I do share some code like
I still uses app_global and app_local in FB 3.0. It works out better for me
and I guess I could rename the files to something else but the results would
be the same. Now I've seen and worked on sites that had admin functions on
the front part of the site if the users is logged in and has the rights to
do so. But I see this as a minor security hole that could be opened by
mistake or oversight. So in the admin or member part of the application I
would ensure that they are in fact login and their process hasn't timed out
else they would hit a login screen.

Now I know a lot of programmer hate to have more than one copy of files.
But as I see it the only file that may be the same is the queries. In that
case there is nothing that says you can just use one in the main site in the
admin or member section. If you want to talk about this more you can e-mail
me or call.

I like long discussions, the more tangential the better! JK. Could you
send me off list perhaps?
