Hi,

As announced a couple months ago, I just started my new position at Inria, where I'll work on https://gforge.inria.fr/ with the aim to contribute back to the FusionForge community as much as possible!
Let's wish us some huge success :)

\o/

A few words about myself: I've been working professionally on mixed programming/sysadmining/coordinating jobs for years, and I'm a long time contributor to Free Software, in particular maintenance of the GNU Savannah and Savane for ~7 years. Recently I've been eager to work on Free Software professionally and write code useful to others - and I think I've found an opportunity to do so :)

What now?
What I plan in the short term is:
- Study the current instance and its needs in more detail.
- Once that's done, organize a physical meeting within the FusionForge community to discuss these needs and set our goals more precisely. This could be an opportunity to setup the next FusionForge developer meeting, and Inria can provide a room at Place d'Italie, Paris (above IRILL).

That is a good idea, since we open the new 6.0 last friday.

A few broad development directions have been suggested and informally discussed with Roland a while ago, maybe some of you have similar plans already: - Explore new system replications for users (to deal with webdav, UID&NFS limits, etc.)
- Add a templating system
- Improve system responsiveness (create repos on the fly, etc.)
- Improve ergonomy / de-complexify the UI
So I'll probably start a few threads on this list shortly ;)
Shall we discuss this a bit on Friday's IRC meeting?

Sure.

Take also a look at :

Any help to implement features request, fix bugs, validate patches is welcome.

Another topic :
Since Inria also worked in Coclico project, maybe you will have the opportunity to finish the job started by Coclico aka Project Import plugin using forgeplucker. (btw, I'm still waiting for any documentation on that part...)

Regards,
Franck
