I would rather say that when we started to switch to git, debian
packaging went in bzr.
And it was some will to separate debian packaging from the rest of the
code.

Personnally I would prefer git-only, as I didn't look yet how to deal
with contributing in  bzr part
As i have some plan for common plugin with one of our sourceforge cousin
who switched to git, it's another 'in favor of git'.
