Hamad bin Jassem Al Thani, the Foreign Minister of Qatar -- where they're building a massive airbase for the Americans -- is off to Iraq today for a chat with Saddam Hussein. Al Thani surely knows a thing or two about America's plans.
Oh to be a fly on the wall (and to understand Arabic)! It will be interesting if they issue a press release afterwards. Even more intriguing will be the style and content of Saddam Hussein's next speech. Perversely, the more bellicose it will be, the more likely it is that he knows that the Americans are not really after him at all.
