Not sure of where this has come from or where it's going.  Keith and Ray, you've both been part of this list for a very long time and it would be a sad loss if either of you left.  Take several deep breaths, turn around three times, bow north, then south, sit still for two hours and then resolve to hang in.  The learning we do from each other on this list is just too important.

Keith,

Hang in there. Ray can be rough [fortunately, he usually nails me off-list for which I am grateful]. With me, what is most upsetting is that his barbs are usually right on. This is a great list that will be diminished with your absence. I tell my friends that there are few places where bright people would suffer a flip, rather shallow guy like me, so I have been grateful.

Bah!   You got your feelings hurt?   You've done the same to me many times and I've never quit.   Its beneath you.   Are you feeling OK?     This is a tough business that we are in and it calls forth tough responses.    I never looked at you to be so delicate.    Take a rest but don't leave.   You would be missed.    Activity keeps the Alzheimer's away.

Ray,

To me, you have the effect of being patronising and intimidatory. I think you have probably driven scores, if not hundreds of people away from this list over the years. Well, you've driven me away now. Don't bother to write to me because I will delete you and will continue to do so until I have indirect evidence that you have learned some degree of moderation and courtesy.
