[snip]From the Financial Times -- 24 September 2003 <<<< FRENCH PINE FOR THE WORKING LIFE
Robert Graham
France's 35-hour working week, the flagship policy of the country's previous socialist government, has fallen out of favour among an increasing number of employees. In a world of rising unemployment and wage freezes, they say, they want to work more.
In a survey published yesterday 36 per cent of respondents said they would be happy to see the shorter working week suppressed altogether, with a return to the former 39-hour norm.
Well, I wonder how many would like a 45 hr week? 50? ....
I wonder how many would want longer hours if the wage flight to the bottom, of the new Global Economy was reined in?
Persons always chose the less worse alternative. Why can't we have some GOOD alternatives?
