Hi all, We are currently running FW-1 4.1 SP6 on an Ultra 60 (2 x 360MHz, 128 MB, with a quad-qfe network card, Solaris 2.6). Our network manager is upgrading the network to GigE, and wants the firewall upgraded to 3 GigE interfaces. (potential increase of traffic with other areas of our department over Gig links)
My question is whether the U60 can handle it? (we would upgrade the memory) Our traffic on a busy day may look like: 150 million packets 100 GB (mostly outgoing from our http and ftp servers) The connections table averages about 1500-2000 connections during business hours. Another option we are considering is going to Linux (eg. RH 7 on Dell, fast dual processors, 3 GigE i/f) Comments appreciated.
