I also use Nagios for network and service monitoring.  I have yet to find
another tool that is as flexible and rock-solid as Nagios; and the price
isn't bad, either.

Don't forget Nagios (http://www.nagios.org) either. It's also a decent
(and free) monitoring package. Been using it here for quite a while and
we've been really happy. :)
