Hi all,
I see your email in phoneboy.com and I would like to ask you a question
about an issue with SmartCenter.
Now I have a W2k box with Smartcenter NG AI HFA404 and it is not
possible to
connect with the GUI Client. I tried it from the localhost and from a remote
host and it is not possible. It seems that the service is not working
properly and it appears a window with the next message:
"Connection cannot initiated.
Please, make sure that th server '192.168.20.4' is up and running and that
you are defined as a GUI client."
This issue started when I uninstalled old version (4.1 SP5 and SP6) of
Checkpoint because this box was a Management server. I suposed that old
version were not necessary and I uninstalled. Do you know any way to
return
to the old instalation? Is there any way to solve the actual problem and
work without the old versions?

Thanks in advance,
Enrique Martin

Hi, I assume, your GUI-client is the same version as your SmartCenter. The GUI client connects to the SmartCenter (Management), Port 18190/tpc. Maybe you have a look if the system is listening on this port. You will need to have the fwm process running. If it's not, maybe starting this process in debug mode might help (CLI: fwm -d). If it's running, you will get a message. Are there any entries in the logs ($FWDIR/logs) or in the Eventlog of Win2k? Did you uninstall 4.x after installation of NG AI??

Hope it helps,
best regards,
Matthias
