As old habits are hard to get rid of, since I'm working with VPN-1 since the
old 4.0 days, I keep using traditional mode. Maybe it's (slightly) more
complex to configure, but it seems to keep control over a larger number of
parameters that are left hidden in simplified mode.
Moreover, since my VPN experience involves at most situations in which
CheckPoint has to talk to some other IPSEC device, this enhanced control
capacity helped a lot.
I know CheckPoint guys DO read these lines, so:
<CheckPoint Enhancement Suggestion Mode>
Why has Simplified Mode to be limited in functionality compared to
Traditional Mode?
Why not to implement a way to convert a policy back and forth between
Simplified and Traditional, since they are no more than different views of
the supposedly same rulebase?
</CheckPoint Enhancement Suggestion Mode>
Just my 0,02 ?
