Hi Bernardo,

This is true, I am using it as a failover feature only but there is an option for load
balancing too. the failover works just fine but you need either Linux or secure
platform to be able to use this features as per Checkpoint warning note at the setup
screen. after you create the GW you will see the option of ISP redundancy under
topology. Its very easy to configure.( I think they started supporting it with R55
release)

Subject: [FW-1] RES: [FW-1] ISP Redundancy

Hi Hal,

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned the use of 2 different ISPs. My specific problem
is that my client actually has only 1 ISP and 2 different links connected to 2
separate routers.

They don't want to be vulnerable to a router failure.

I've been doing a little research and a friend told me that I could use ISP redundancy
in CP so that I can have 2 Default Gateways. Is this true?

Thanks again!

Bernardo

Although CP supports some link redundancy features, if you
want true ISP redundancy you need to run BGP. Do a search
on BGP in your favorite search engine and you will find
enough stuff to make you woozy. You will need to work
with your providers and have them coordinate an autonomous
system (AS) number for you, and you will need a pretty
beefy router capable of handling a HUGE routing table.

Here's one place to start.
