I don't have an SMTP server defined as a resource. The mail servers is just Static-ly NATed to an external IP Address.
Even when the device is offline on the other side, when connecting to port 25 the telnet connection is still answered - the firewall has to be doing this. This stops (external mail servers from a mail filtering provider running Qmail) moving onto other MX records and wrecks our redundancy with two mail servers. What would be causing this ? And can it be disabled ? -----Original Message----- From: Reinhard Stich [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, December 21, 2004 9:48 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [FW-1] SMTP Security Server hi, At 21:45 20.12.2004, you wrote: >How do I disable the SMTP Security server ?? just don't use a smtp-ressource (smtp->ressourcename) in your policy >It is causing problems by answering the mail request when the servers >are down behind the firewall. why? normally emails are spooled in $FWDIR/spool (default-path) and when your mailer is up again they are delivered ... cheers reinhard >Thanks in advance. > > Lindsay > >================================================= >To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to >[EMAIL PROTECTED] >in the BODY of the email add: >set fw-1-mailinglist nomail >================================================= >To unsubscribe from this mailing list, >please see the instructions at >http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html >================================================= >If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, >email [EMAIL PROTECTED] >================================================= -- Reinhard Stich ASSIST [EMAIL PROTECTED] Internet Security AG, 1150 Wien, Johnstrasse 29 Tel: +43 1 3709440 RS784-RIPE Fax: +43 1 3709440-333 ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] =================================================
