I believe that only works if the new MDS is a duplicate of existing one. If I want to migrate global policy to a new MDS (say different IP), will it work ?

You shd be able to migrate global policies using the MDS script $MDSDIR/scripts/ migrate_global_policies.

I am going to build a new MDS server which may be the same or different from the existing one. I tar existing CMAs and imported into the new CMAs. It seems ok. But do not know how to migrate the global policy (objects) from the existing server to the new server. Anyone knows ?
Thanks
