I think that's there for backward compatibility (pure speculation).

Someone said that in NGx uses something else other than zebra. If that is the case, why is zebra still in NGx?

I run NGX splat (not pro, just normal splat) on a hyperthreading CPU.
Splat
shows it as two CPUs and it works fine. I don't think you need splat pro
to
support multpile CPUs.
