I think the IP120 goes off support rather soon and may have already done so. I've got one and when it croaks I'm going to replace it with an Edge. The IP120 barely cuts it. I've got mine on R55 and IPSO 3.7 and it's about out of memory and you can't add any to it. However, as you noted, Nokia's support is superb which is why I bought an IP530 awhile ago.

I haven't had any issues with my Edge XU for quite awhile. There were a few flakey firmware releases, but there were also a few flakey <insert vendor> releases as well. The v6 firmware is due any day now, I understand. I'm on 5.0.92 and it's rock solid.

What's your throughput and how many IPs will be behind it? Is it doing anything fancy like remote access or publishng web servers?

Subject: [FW-1] suggestions on mid-size firewall
Date: Tue, 25 Oct 2005 12:18:41 -0400

Hi all,

We have an office with a Cisco 2621XM with Firewall IOS & hardware VPN
accelerator that just isn't cutting the mustard anymore. I'd like to
offload the Firewall/VPN to another device costing somewhere between
$1000-$2000. I'm open to suggestions. It looks like somehow we have a
free Express license that I could use for this, but I'd like to avoid
recurring software subscription fees. Is it possible to use
SecurePlatform with an Express license? I could use an older server for
that.

This is what I've been able to find so far:

Nokia IP130
Nokia 50i
PIX 506e
Edge X32 or XU
Have I missed anything?

Has anyone had experience with the above?

Which version of FW-1 does the IP130 run? And has anyone used a 50i
(non-FW-1 it looks like)? I've had an IP120 in the past (the 4.1 days)
and I thought it was great (Nokia support was great).

I've heard bad things about Edges with firmware issues, etc.
