Greetings, The cluster patches from Sun do cause problems because the OS's behavior changes between patches. One would have to assume that this is how fixes are implemented. The problem is when another vendor relies upon a certain behavior, and it is changed, then vendor b (in this case Check Point) it's difficult to either supply a fix to everyone that needs it or get vendor a to re-release a patch.
I would have to say that once installation has been completed then this should not affect the firewall in any way. The latest and greatest features/releases may not be available to you since they're not supported on an older platform, but you probably don't care about this. I can not tell you solaris 8 but I can tell you my experience with solaris 9 and the latest cluster patch. After installing the latest cluster patches on my solaris 9 box, I can NOT install P-1 R55 on it. To fix the problem, I had to re-install solaris 9 and apply the cluster patch that I downloaded ten months ago. That fixed my problem. My guess is that if you install the latest cluster patch, it will break your Checkpoint apps, I can almost see it coming. aside from your problem, you have a classic situation. Running checkpoint on a general purpose OS. You're guaranted to have finger pointing between vendors. But that's my 2c. Lino Eduardo Avila Rodrguez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi all!
