Hi,

I may be wrong but I was of the opinion that UTM is a hardware appliance
with the Checkpoint applications pre-installed where as VPN-1 power is
the Checkpoint applications available for use on all hardware platforms
with the exception of Nokia IPSO.

Subject: [FW-1] What exactly is VPN-1 UTM compared to Power?

Hi,

I know what the VPN-1 Power license is and that's what we've been using
over the years (it used to be called differently back then). Then they
introduced VPN-1 Express, which was essentially a stripped down VPN-1
Pro with a maximum user limit of 500.

Now they introduced the UTM thing and the user limit seems to have
disappeared (so it officially supports unlimited users). It also has
extra features like AntiVirus that I can not get on the way more
expensive Power license. I can tell that UTM does not have SecureXL and
Floodgate support, but other than that I can't see any differences.

So why on earth would I buy Power instead of UTM? Are there more
differences than the two I mentioned?

I am strongly considering a "downgrade" to get the benefits of lower
cost.

To make a long story short: What's the differnce between Power and UTM
other than Floodgate and and SecureXL support? Am I missing something?

Thanks
Sascha
