Rumor has it that Nokia has the Manufacture burn a code into the RAM that the BIOS/CMOS looks for during startup. If the code isn't there, then it won't work correctly.
I even found RAM that matched up perfectly and it wouldn't work (based on the SN of a 256 Mb stick of Nokia RAM). After some swapping around with other 530's I was able to get two boxes to `1Gb, but only with Nokia RAM. -----Original Message----- From: Mailing list for discussion of Firewall-1 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of pkc_mls Sent: Monday, February 26, 2007 10:34 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [FW-1] Maximum amount of memory in Nokia IP530 Neil Kemp a écrit : > Thats the problem ! > > Just another quick question, does anyone know if memory from any of the > other appliances will work - such as memory from an IP650 or IP440 ? I'm quite surprised, because if you buy the same kind of RAM from the same manufacturer (don't forget to use ECC modules), how could the box know which one comes from nokia ? you can even try to get some RAM on ebay if your favourite reseller cannot sell you the correct old one. > > Thanks. > > On 26/02/07, Larson, Todd (LNG-DAY) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: ___________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
