Thanks David,
Actually I went through those steps, although I added the hostname manually
to the /etc/hosts file and it got removed when the system rebooted, so I
checked and found the option to do it via Voyager. The commands to provided
to add those hosts via CLI will be useful for my "commands bible" as I had
no knowledge of them.
After adding that SMC hostname, I was in fact able to ping to it instead of
using the IP, but still no logs were showed in the SV Tracker.
After I added the new logserver object, that finally solved the issue, I
checked the hosts file and it was not there either, so I concluded the
processes Check Point uses to handle the policies, logs and alerts, seem to
have nothing to do with being able to resolve names in the hosts file or via
DNS.
Thanks a lot for your reply anyway.
Regards

If you think your problem is due to hostname resolution, you might
consider adding an entry in the host file, so that IPSO can resolve the
name locally.
Using "clish" on the Nokia box you would use the following commands to
add a host entry:
> add host name <name> ipv4 <x.x.x.x>

At that point you should be able to "ping <name>" and have it ping the
proper IP, then you can try cprestart to see if that fixes your problem.
Of course you can use Voyager to add host name entries, too.
Hope this helps.
