This was announced over a year ago. The biggest problem you might face is that your hardware might be too underpowered to be upgraded. What are you running and how much bandwidth do you have?
I concur with the suggestion to move the SmartCenter to R65 and use its backward compatibility capabilities to manage the R55 firewalls. This works well.
