We have a mixture. Some special clients are allowed to send directly.
One client had a spam-virus and flooded the internet with spam. The clients are
natted behind the firewall and therefore the ip of the FW was on a blacklist.
In that case I want to get an alert.
The mass of our clients have to use an internal MTA.

there are some options in the gateway properties -> advanced -> SMTP
that will be used only if you set
smtp resources.

for smtp viruses, you have to use CVP or another antivirus on your mail
gateway.

there are also options in smartdefense, but those will aply only for
mail servers defined, so you cannot setup
such options for outgoing mails.

do you use an internal MTA for outgoing mail, or are the clients allowed
to send directly mails via smtp ?
