Just a FYI: I have a customer running this platform and Provider-1 R70,
and they haven't experienced any problems during install, so even though
its not exactly the same product, it indicates its not a generic problem
with *all* DL380 G5's and SPLAT 2.6.

Hi,

Since I'm able to install R65 on such model, I tried to upgrade it with
"patch add cd" but it also hangs on "decompressing image" process.

I'm amazed with this problem! HP Proliant DL380 (G5) is probably the
server's best-seller, is certified by CP and even so neither CP has a
solution nor anyone has been through this issue... both R70
(unofficially) and this model exists, let's say for almost one year?

Any clues ?

Subject: [FW-1] R70 and HP DL380G5

Hi,

This hw is officially supported by checkpoint
(http://www.checkpoint.com/services/techsupport/hcl/model_info/0015.html
) but I cannot proceed with installation process, because I get the
following message after booting from the CD and while loading the
Ramdisk:

PCI: BIOS Bug: MCFG area at c0000000 is not E820-reserved
PCI: Not using MMCONFIG

After it says
failed to read modules, installation was aborted.

What have I done so far:

- Tried to disable ACPI and other BIOS settings but the message remains.
HP as an advisory with this message but with SUSE operating system.

- Downloaded the ISO once more and assured the MD5 is correct.

Some other linux vendors suggest to pass some parameters in the boot
options (like nommconfig). Is it possible with SPLAT ? Anyone been
through this ?

Another surprisingly fact is that I'm able to install R65 (w/ 2.4
kernel).

Thanks in advance

Pedro Boavida
