Whatever IP you license to must be the same IP you have defined for the SCS object. With respect to hostname, you have the actual name assigned to the host, the name you give the SCS object in the dashboard and the internal CA FQDN(default it uses the hostname assigned to the box for the FQDN). These 3 should all match for best practice, however, DNS aside, I have seen all 3 of these names be different and experienced no problems with the SCS.

Under /etc/hosts file, this hostname is binded to 192.168.1.22 ip, and checkpoint license is binded to another ip with different hostname under /etc/hosts and my principal DNS server: cpmgmt.hpulabs.org. When I installed SmartCenter R70.20 server, smartdashboard have created a smartcenter server object with "shadowfax" as a hostname with correct ip: 192.168.1.22. But using this Ip address, install license fails. If I change ip address to 172.16.55.4 on smartcenter object, license works as I expected. But, can be a problem to do this??. Can I change hostname "shadowfax" to "cpmgmt" in smartcenter server object?? I prefer don't change license ip address if it is possible.
