We have this working just fine with Iphones and Ipads as well. I can share our detailed configuration, however if you follow the referenced articles at http://www.checkpoint.com/iphone, and be sure to place the l2tp.conf file on the gateway, and also BE SURE route all traffic to gateway is set to yes, and that on your gateway you allow all traffic to be routed through the gateway, it should work.
