I'm currently dealing with something similar on a UTM-1 272. The device is the
master of a clustered pair, and still passing traffic. But I can't push policy.
Monitor shows the node as down. I'm able to get a web gui login prompt, but
once I enter credentials, I get the error
"Server error (error code = FAIL_TO_OPEN_CUSTOM_API_FILE)"
It then returns to the login screen.
>From the console or SSH, I can enter credentials, but then get the error
"Can't open configuration file"
It then returns to the login prompt.
First time it happened a reboot cleared it. The second time, I also noticed
that the HDD activity light was on solid red. I rebooted, but it hung with the
LCD screen message "Initializing ... Please wait" It never booted again.
I assume a bad hard disc drive, and am having the appliance replaced.
