It does work - I did so with a Nokia IP120.  I had some strange problems with the 
management station traffic and VPN setup, but in the end it all worked fine.

Were you, perhaps, trying to imply that licensing the firewall to an
internal interface would not work? If so, perhaps sharing your experience
might be a better idea. I have been that this, in fact, works, although
I have never tried it myself.
