This is a known bug in SP6, at least for 4.1 SP6 running on Nokia platforms. As of last week, Checkpoint and Nokia did not have an adequate fix for the problem. They had us try to eliminate numerous class-C networks in our NAT rules, through super-natting, but this did not fix the problem. We saw it on the asmtpd daemon and the isakmpd daemon. I have also heard that the httpd daemon has problems too. I don't know what the circumstances are for triggering the problem. Our asmtpd daemon worked for almost two weeks after the upgrade, before it started freaking out every couple of minutes. We have since moved to a different solution for mail, but still have problems with the isakmpd daemon. Hope this helps.

On investigation we find that the amtpd service is running at 99% CPU. Doing an fwstop in this case does not terminate the process. The only option seems to be to reboot the module. This resolves the issue for a while, but once the mail volumes get back to normal the slow performance re-occurs. We do not use any CVP etc in this environment. Has anyone seen a similar occurrence, and are there any recommended solutions?
