That's funny, 50% of our demo clusters are running Linux FW's :-) See
www.rainfinity.com for Linux support. It is beta, but then, so is the
Linux FW-1 on the CP2000 CD, according to the release notes. As far as
issues go, the only thing I've run into is that the CPFW boot scripts
(fw1boot and firewall1) go by default well ahead of the networking
startup, which makes for a lot of junk in the log and possibly some
instability (as in the instability went away when I rearranged the boot
order).
Hardware boxes will be fast and will do a good job of load-balancing.
They'll also be expensive because they need to go all over the place
(sandwiching in multiple dimensions).
