Hi,
I had the same error. It was caused on my machine as the Kernel was an smp
version. (Compiled for muliprocessor support). If you have the letters smp
after the kernel number then reboot and at he lilo prompt type linux-up.
That should load a standard kernel if you have a standard redhat install.
