>Hello,

>Has anyone had any experience with a Rainwall clustered firewall

We use Rainwall for FW-1 on NT and have used it for about a year. We have
been satisfied with the product and it works as advertised for us. However,
we aren't doing any VPNs, or NAT, just pretty straightforward firewall
"stuff." If you want more details of how we use Rainwall, feel free to
contact me off list.

>How easy is it to setup?

We found Rainwall itself to be extremely easy to set up. The hardest part of
the install (for me at least) was getting the FW-1 state synchronization set
up properly. I'm not sure, but I don't think that "fw putkey" is the most
reliable command FW-1 around. It seems to work sometimes, and not others
(but that could just be me.) Anyhow, once that is set up, the actual
Rainwall install itself pretty much automated.

>How flexible is it?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this, so maybe we can take this question
offline.

>Are there problems with using Hide NATs with its "VIP" setup?

We don't do NAT on our FW-1 box, so I don't know.

>Any other items that could prove to be useful..

I have found their tech support to be very good. Their engineers know their
product well and they know FW-1 well. They respond very quickly, and have
answered most of my questions in a day or less (depending on severity of the
problem, of course.) I'm not sure if this is a function of them being a
relatively small company or not. It will be interesting to see if their
support falls off as they grow. However, as of the last time I contacted
them with a question (which was a few months ago) their support was still
top notch.

Hope this helps,
Jim
