I currently have a Sparc Ultra 10 running FW-1 and need to connect some
remote locations via VPNs back to the central site.

I am considering using VPN-1 330 appliance rather than bring up FW-1 on NT
or Solaris at the remote sites, and continue using the Sparc at the main
site.

Once concern is if I have a problem on the Internet side and can not get to
the VPN-1 over the Internet, can it be managed via dial-up? I know I can
dial-into an NT (PCanywhere) or Solaris box.

On the VPN-1, do I operate at the Unix shell level to define routes?

How are backups done since there is no local tape?

Any other warnings or advice in selecting which way to go?

Thanks.vs Nokia?
