Currently I use SecureRemote and an IPSEC VPN to connect remote
workstations to a server on my local lan. The address on the local lan is
in the 192.168.4.x range. We have hit a snag now, as a site that wants
access to my servers through a VPN use the same 192.168.4.x addressing on
their lan. I think the best approach would be to assign a public address
to my database server. What is the best way to go about this? I don't
have any routers/switches on my lan, as there are only a half dozen systems
behind my firewall. The firewall does Hide NAT for all computers on my
local lan.
Currently:
Remote (192.168.10.x) ---> Other Firewall ---> Internet ---> FW1 4.1 SP2
---> Hub ---> Database Server on my LAN (192.168.10.x)
Would I have to put another network card into my database server and assign
a public address to it, or have the firewall do some sort of address
translation and proxy arping for that public address? I'm reluctant to
change my local lan's addressing to another 192.168.x.x range as I'll
probably hit the same problem in the future, and already have a number of
clients configured to use this addressing.
Thanks,
