Hi John,
"Has only loopback (lo) interface, aborting... Failed to
Load Security Policy: No such file or directory Fetching Security Policy
from localhost failed"
This problem happend because Checkpoint FW Kernel lost the comunication
with the interfaces, only get the loopback, although you can see the
interfaces at OS level.
The solution:
Prove that command : 'fw ctl iflist' if you only see the loopback, do this:
1. Rename $FWDIR/conf/product.conf to inst.conf.
2. Run $FWDIR/bin/cpconfig. This will re-initialize the communication
between FireWall-1 and the interfaces.
3. Reboot the machine.
Hope this helps you,

FW-1 SP8
16/01/01 13.10
Hello,
Just a quick note, I installed SP8 yesterday for FW-1 4.0 on Solaris, it
went less than ideal. I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences.
-Installed SP8 on top of SP6, when I re-booted FW-1 couldn't find any
interfaces except the loopback. Upon further investigation the upgrade had
removed the FW-1 scripts in /etc/rc2.d and /etc/rcS.d. These appear to load
the interface drivers into the kernel. Everything worked okay except all
the
virtual interfaces were gone from FW-1. Solaris showed them but FW-1
didn't.
Re-configed them from the management console, everything now works.
Not as painful as some of the SP7 stories I've heard, but still not
pleasant. (Although I now know more about the FW-1 boot process.) Anyone
have similar experiences? Anyone shed some light on what went wrong?
I'll summarize the relies.
