[FW1] smtp connections

Hi ,   I have a question concerning sending email through the firewall . There seems to be a maximum to the number of email connections the firewall can handle simultaneously . If our internal mail server sends to much emails he gets a reset condition on opening the smtp connection to our firewall .   Does anyone know how I can increment that maximum , or how I can see what the maximum is ?
