In my experience, this forum has been extremely good about handling
differences of opinion in the past, and I don't see why this thread
should be any exception.

Greg, I don't see anything inappropriate about your comments or any
reason why we shouldn't be able to address them. You're obviously an
opinionated developer with a lot of experience using other frameworks
that rounds out your perspective. ZF isn't perfect by a long shot (I
could say this about every framework- or piece of code, for that matter-
that I've ever spent any time working with), and it certainly does some
things differently from other frameworks. I don't have enough personal
experience to address your questions about Zend_Uri myself. In fact, I
was looking forward to finding out what alternative methods there are
and what people feel Zend_Uri brings to the table in follow ups to your
email. But please keep in mind that this list has been infiltrated by a
bunch of passionate ZF'ers when you express your opinions here. ;)

Everyone else, if you don't know Greg personally or have had significant
interactions with him on this topic outside of this thread, I'd say
you're going out on a limb with some of these characterizations. The
funny thing to me is that I see a lot of value in the opinions and
insight expressed in this thread so far, but they've now become largely
buried under much more sensational opinions about Greg himself. How bout
we focus on the content of the questions and not the style with which
they are asked? J

Thanks everyone for making this list so valuable to so many ZF users.

,Wil

I find it incredibly sad that someone who claims to have 9 years of
experience in PHP and various other technologies is here whining like a
kid about something trivial like these components. I don't like Zend_Db,
but I'm not flaming about it. I just don't use it. The beauty of Zend
Framework.

Judging from all your other posts here I'd say maybe ZF isn't for you.

Clearly it's not for "Web 2.0" development either. Where's the
Javascript integration? Where's any integration at all?

You

should probably go back to writing good old fashioned flat PHP
scripts,

        might

save you from getting so worked up ;)

Pffft.. I'm not worked up. This certainly isn't the first
brain-damaged PHP code I've laid eyes on. It'll fail all on it's own,
with or without my opinions. Sadly I'm tasked with using it on a
project, so it's not really a matter of choice for me. I'd have
dropped it days ago otherwise.

Framework.. hilarious.
