I've been wondering this for a few days, as I have two computers that are
AirPort capable...

If all the computers have, out of the box, is the antennas to pick up
802.11b signals, and you have to install an interface card to be able to use
the antennas, does this mean that you can upgrade your AirPort if Apple were
to release a new card with more features, like faster speeds or more
encryption? Just throw in a new card and you're following today's wireless
standards, but also you can upgrade for tomorrow? I would think you can,
but I want someone else's opinion - so - is AirPort "upgradable"?
