I can only confirm what Thomas said. Me too went to the recall webpage and
went to the process from start to end (just for the fun after all these
reports). I have a Pismo and a yoyo adapter bought in Germany. First the
serial number of my pismo: match--- you are eligible blah blah, next model
and serial number of the AC adapter --it was swallowed and I got the
confirmation page "Your order will be processed blah blah.." and minutes
later the confirmation email.
I have to mention though that all the pictures shown on the recall pages do
certainly do not match a yoyo adapter but rather the "old black" ones.
Anyway I would a big company expect to be able to save itself the hassle of
recalling non eligible AC adapters by having a proper database check (on the
server side).
My conclusion, either the combination of your laptops serial nr + AC adapter
model + AC adapter serial number is either worthless (not able to tell the
eligible adapters from the others - rather unlikely if you ask me) or it is
not checked. That puts the responsibility back to the smart apple costumer
and not to ask for replacement if the picture doesn't match. One should
probably try if you can anything in the serial fields, that just matches the
right syntax..... Again, if Apple really does all these unnecessary
replacements I am wondering who is paying for that...isn't it us when we go
for our next Apple toy?
